Things are happening!

I absolutely love everything about this stage of building a business.

The creation stage - when everything is still coming together and you can feel where it's headed.

I'm working with Janelle on a full redesign of my website, and while that is getting closer to rolling out, Mike, our Chief of Service and MIP Concierge, and I have been hard at work rethinking a 'sales pipeline'.

We never want to feel like something is a numbers game or just a transaction.

We believe in leading with service and we're using that to create our Partnership Path.

It's how the organizations and events we work with will get to know us, from the first hello to our first real conversation.

Our philosophy is simple: a numbers game doesn't mean you can't stay human.

We're building it with real systems and real service, with people at the heart of it.

It's the same thing I've always been, a believer in people and a champion of service.

I’ve been spending more time working out of this o

I’ve been spending more time working out of this office. When Mom went on hospice I’d sit at this desk and talk to her while I was sad and grieving, and she would talk me through it.

One day I wrote on an orange sticker, “You are okay,” and taped it to my monitor.

This morning my intention was to work out of a coffee shop. I tried to follow a normal routine — packed my little red bag and headed out the door. When I got there, I realized I hadn’t brought my computer. So I sat for a few minutes did a little writing, and then packed up and headed to Balance.

I’ve been scared to come back here. Which is odd, because this is my happy place. But I didn’t know what sad Josie would look like in my happy place, so I avoided it.

But today, without a computer, I had two choices. Turn around and go home… or drive to the business I love so much.

When I walked into my office, my little note was waiting for me.
“You are okay.” 🧡

It made me pause because a friend texted me yesterday asking how I was doing. I told her my pat answer right now is: I’m okay, even if I don’t know exactly how I am.

And there was that little note sitting here reminding me again. I am okay. Being back in this office has felt really good.

That said, I’m still figuring things out. My first attempt to talk to Debbie ended in tears in about 30 . I answered the phone once couldn't check out a client. But that’s okay too.

Because I’m okay.

And this is just part of figuring out what that means.

I sit reviewing the slide deck for an upcoming keynote. I added this photo of me and Mom at the market to the opening slide. It will be two weeks to the day when I give that talk. I’m going to start by acknowledging the loss and the love.

Because so much of what I talk about stems from the core belief that:

Everybody is somebody’s most important person in the world.

That lesson came from my mom. She is the seed of this talk.

And it’s a privilege to plant that seed with others and water it — hoping it takes root, believing that when we slow down long enough to see each other’s humanity, we might help a few more people in this world remember they’re going to be okay. 🧡
